About Altinkum

Altinkum is situated on the western Aegean Coast of Turkey, near to the Greek Islands of Kos and Samos. It is a 90 minute transfer from Bodrum Milas Airport and 2 hours from Izmir Menderes Airport.

Altinkum benefits from 3 golden beaches with gently shelving water depths which are shallow for up to 80 metres, making it safe for families with small children. There are water sports centres on the beaches, including pedaloes, jet skiing and sailing. Altinkum has a harbour from which you can take a daily boat trip.

For lovers of antiquities, there is the famous Temple of Apollo just 2 km from the beach area, along with the ancient settlement of Miletos which is 30 minutes drive away. Local tour companies offer guided tours to Ephesus and Pamukalle and you can hire a car if you wish to be independent in your sight-seeing. Also on offer are jeep safaris and there is horseriding within 30 minutes of Altinkum.

An Aquapark opened in 2004 and is very popular with holidaymakers.

If you don't feel like walking there are many local buses (Dolmus) which run every few minutes and cost around 40p per journey. Alternatively there are taxis which charge a flat fee of around £4 per journey.

The main promenade area of Altinkum has been recently upgraded and offers an excellent choice of eating places, from traditional Turkish, Italian, Indian, Chinese and British cuisine. All tastes are catered for. Most of these restaurants offer a free car service during the evening to get you back to your accommodation.
